Problems ahead on the roads

Parking Congestion on Ash Grove Barbeques are illegal in all the city’s parks. So if a designated barbeque area gets built on Woodhouse Moor, it will be the only place in Leeds where people can have a barbeque in a park without fear of being prosecuted. The inevitable consequence will be that the Woodhouse Moor Designated Barbeque Area will attract people from all over the city and beyond, just as the skatepark already attracts people from a very wide area.  This will mean that our roads will become even more congested, and parking for residents will become ever more difficult.  What consideration have Parks and Countryside given to this ?  As much as you can see with your eyes shut.

  1. Call me cynical but… It seems obvious that the added influx of people to enjoy Bar-B-Q’s will compel the Council to provide off-road parking facilities – with the weight of local residents behind them! Have we been here before? Are the Cinder and Memorial Moors under seige once again? Are we involved in a game of chess?
Best regards and keep up the good work.

  2. Attended mtg.27.04 Woodhouse Comm. Centre. I think Council shd. be required to request that, in order that they, the Council, can work more effectively with the police on the preservation of Woodhouse Moor, the universities should in turn be requested to annually inform their students that Bye Laws exist which prohibit barbecuing on this land. New, plainly worded notices should back up this policy to warn non-student users of the Moor of the Bye-Laws and the attendant penalties for non-observance. We the citizens of Leeds should demand that the Police are kept aware, by the Council, of the Council’s wishes that these Byelaws are honoured.
